Spring 2008 - UGBA 98 - Units: 1-2
Shortcuts: decal.org/617 decal.org/finance
Introduction to Investment is a DeCal run by investors who pay close attention to the markets on a daily basis. The course provides an opportunity for students to understand the principles of investment, and to analyze market trends. We will focus on investment topics such as stocks, CDs, mutual funds, and bonds. The goal of this course is to not only offer insights and tips for the business majors, but also the non-business majors who have a keen interest in productively managing their own money. During the course of the semester, students will have the chance to invest through virtual simulation programs and receive personal advice from the instructors on the do’s and don’t-do’s. On top of this, two guest speakers from the Haas School of Business will share their own expertise on investing. By the final day of instruction, students should be prepared to answer, "What should I buy and when should I sell?"
CCN: To Be Announced In the First Two Sessions
For those unable to attend the first week, please attempt to show up by the second session. The first day of instruction will be laid back, and will give students a chance to get to know the instructors. While your presence is not required, attendance is strongly encouraged.
